How do donations work?

Donations are tracked as coins allocated to a shelter or campaign. 1 coin = 1 cent. Shelters can request payouts from available coins; approved requests are paid out via Stripe.

Can I adopt an animal through Animly?

Yes! Some animals listed on the platform are available for adoption. Look for the "Available for adoption" badge on animal profiles. You can send an adoption request directly to the shelter through the platform.

How does the adoption process work?

When you find an animal available for adoption, click "Request adoption" on their profile. You'll be asked to provide your contact information and a message for the shelter. The shelter will review your request and reach out to you directly to discuss next steps.

Is there a fee to adopt?

Animly does not charge any adoption fees. However, individual shelters may have their own adoption fees to cover vaccination, spaying/neutering, and other care costs. The shelter will discuss any fees with you directly.

How do I get coins?

You can subscribe to a monthly plan or make a one-time purchase on the Pricing page. The coins you receive reflect the full amount after platform and payment processing fees — what you see is what the shelter gets.

What fees does Animal Support charge?

We charge a small platform fee (5% of the purchase price, with a minimum of $1) that keeps the platform running — covering verification, support, development, and server costs. On top of that, Stripe charges a standard payment processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction. The exact breakdown is always shown at checkout before you confirm.

How much of my donation reaches the shelter?

At least ~92% of your donation goes directly to the shelter. The remainder covers our platform fee and Stripe's payment processing. We show you the exact split for every purchase so there are no surprises.

What happens to my donation?

Your coins go directly to the shelter or campaign you choose. Shelters submit payout requests, which are reviewed by our admin team. Once approved, funds are transferred to the shelter's bank account.

Can I get a refund?

Unused coins in your wallet may be eligible for a refund within 14 days of purchase. Once coins have been donated to a shelter, they are non-refundable. Contact hello@animalsupport.org for help.

Are shelters vetted?

Yes. Every shelter must submit identity documents and organizational proof before being listed. Our admin team reviews each application. Verified shelters display a blue checkmark.

What is the Emergency Pot?

The Emergency Pot is a community pool of coins that gets distributed weekly to shelters facing urgent crises — natural disasters, medical emergencies, or sudden intake surges.

What does 1 coin equal?

1 coin = 1 cent. So 1,000 coins = $10.00. When you donate coins to a shelter, each coin represents exactly one cent that the shelter can claim as a payout.

How do I register my shelter?

Go to /shelter/apply to submit your shelter for review. You'll need to provide organizational documents and proof of identity. Our team typically reviews applications within a few business days.

What happens when I delete my account?

When you delete your account: (1) your active subscription is canceled immediately, (2) any remaining coins are donated to the Emergency Pot, and (3) your account enters a 30-day soft-delete period. During those 30 days you can sign in and restore your account. After 30 days, your data is anonymized and permanently removed.

Can I get my coins refunded?

Your purchase on Animly is a donation to the platform. Coins are donation credits that let you direct your support to specific shelters and animals. We do not offer refunds on account deletion — remaining coins are donated to the Emergency Pot to help shelters in need. For refund inquiries on recent purchases, contact hello@animly.org.

Can I restore my deleted account?

Yes, within 30 days of deletion. Simply sign in with your original credentials and you will be redirected to a restoration page. Restored accounts retain badges and donation history, but coins and subscriptions are not recovered — you will need to resubscribe.
